Being the perfume addict that I am, certainly gives me the right to get excited whenever I discover a new initiative that deals with fragrances. Our sense of smell is connected directly to our brain and to our memories, and it’s a well known fact that aromas triggers our memories.
Guerlain has launched the OLFAPLAY app, The first digital Radio for perfume lovers and an amazing way to encourage us to share our olfactory memories and listen to the olfactory memories of others.
At the moment the platforme is available only in french, so i’m waiting for the english version 😦 hopefully it will happen soon.
2019 is here and it’s going to be a beautiful one for sure!
According to the Trends Forecasting Expert Adi Yofe: “2019 will be the seam. A year between the old world and the new world. Change new settings and mix terms. A year of extremes that will work simultaneously: this is a year when we are lazy about shopping, but active in everything related to a “better world.” “
How will this affects the beauty industry and what are the trends to expect during 2019?
SUB ZERO WASTE
It’s probably the leading trend for the upcoming years, one that all of the beauty companies and brands will put a lot of effort and attention in. Zero waste and sustainability will become the new “state of mind” when talking about beauty.
ORGANIC, GREEN AND NATUR
A direct and natural continuation of the first trend. attention to natural ingredients and their origins will become even more popular than they already are. More and more consumers will care about sustainability and the use of natural organic ingredients, and formulas that have not been tested on animals.
We will focus on acquiring benefits for their skin and the environment side by side.
CURING & HEALING & CICA PRODUCTS
Cica taken from the french word cicatriser meaning “to heal”, will be a very popular word when it comes to beauty and skincare.
The healing category will continue to grow in largest percentages. being the second growing category after the anti-aging one last year, it seems like
consumers will be looking for healing solutions and “cures” for the skin.
More and more consumers are facing skin sensitivity problems as a result of extreme weather changes, pollution and stressful lifestyle, and it’s only natural for the beauty brands to supply the “cure”.
THE RETURN OF CAPSULES AND AMPOULES
The search for skin healing products will bring the capsules and ampoules back to the stage
Inside we will find active ingredients that will boost our skin look & feel like vitamin c, vitamin E and more… minimum quantities – maximum efficiency.
Demand for individualism and self-expression will continue to rise, cosmetic brands that will find interesting and creative ways to help consumers express themselves in an interesting and fun way will thrive.
This will also be a key factor when it comes to retail. the retailers that will not invest in creating unique consumers experiences, both online and offline will loose a massive amount of their profits.
TECHNOLOGY MEETS BEAUTY
It turns out that faster than we thought technology will help us choose the right beauty and perfume products online.
think about smelling your fragrances online before click on the “add to cart” button, or getting your skin diagnosed online based on a live photo…
A second before the end of 2018, and the beginning of his very busy schedule for the upcoming year, we had the chance to have our moment with Alexander Colaianni – the international Make-Up artist for the iconic french cosmetic brand sisley paris.
Traveling around the globe for almost 13 years now, he learned a lot from all his encounters with women from different cultures
Alex about women
I learn a lot from all the women I meet during my trips, it is very interesting for me to see the differences between women in different cultures. nowadays women decide who they want to be and they go for it. they emphasize their individuality and i think it is great. more and more women stop following trends and find their own unique language
How about differences in their make-up style?
Mostly I find that women today are looking for a light and fresh look, that they can adopt in minimum time. I see a lot of customers that skip the foundation apply, and want a quick and attractive look, the most important thing for them is to feel comfortable with themselves and in their skin.
What to expect from Sisley’s next summer spring look?
Sisley is offering a lot of new products in the makeup category, There seems to be a continuity to the matte colors look that became so popular. nude colors Vs. bold colors, a wink to the 90’s and the fashionable trends that dominated it
Who his this Lady Liberty you created?
She is confident and powerful. I was inspired from the comics world when I created her, to me she is like a wonder women from the 70’s comics, although Gal Gadot is definitely my favorite wonder women. she is amazing!!! I think all the Israeli women are like that… very open, self confident and beautiful. this year women around the world took a huge step forward and found the courage to stop the exploitation and humiliation they have suffered from men over the years. this is my Lady Liberty, follows the wind, always moving forward but has her strong roots. very feminine and sensual.
You spend most of your time in Asia, what can you tell about the beauty Asian market?
Well, it’s a huge market that rapidly changes. every time I visit China for example I discover new things, it seems like there are a lot of novelties in all aspects of life and it’s amazing. the Asian consumers now experiences the combination of beauty and technology inside the stores, they get their beauty advice from an online platforms located in the stores and saving them a lot of time. they like to try new makeup products but more conservative when it comes to skincare. they do not compromise on quality
You travel a lot, and your skin looks great…tell us all your secrets
Oh, its my Italian genes …LOL
I take a good care of myself. I have too! When you travel that much you have no other option. For me the most important thing is a good and long night sleep.
when it comes to my skincare routine, sisleya is my favorite skincare product, and since i love the sun i also use the Sunleya. Im also taking the time to use the Botanical d-tox 3 times a year. it is a powerful month-long night treatment to combat signs of fatigue. and when I’m in Jetlag the black rose musk is a skin savior.
What do you do when you’re off travelling?
It’s pretty rare but when I’m finally back in Paris I like to have some time for myself, after being away from home for such a long time I really appreciate the time with myself. I have time to paint (Alex is a very talented artist M.V) and I spend time with my son and family.
What is your next stop?
I’m finally going back to Paris for the holiday season. I need to get some sleep…LOL

When I visited in Copenhagen I discovered the reason for the happiness of the Danish people, its the HYGGE. I’m working on my Copenhagen Travel guide but meanwhile here are some essentials for creating yourself the perfect Hygge invoerment
Hygge is a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment. As a cultural category with its sets of associated practices hygge has more or less the same meanings in Danish and Norwegian, but the notion is more central in Denmark than Norway. The emphasis on hygge as a part of Danish culture is a recent phenomenon, dating to the late 20th century thanks to wikipedia
there is no such thing as too many candels
twinkle star lights
Now you are almost ready…make sure to add some of your own cosiest elements and don’t forget to light a candle
Winter is here and as much as we love to cuddle with our coffee mugs and pj’s we know that our skin prefer mid season… how do we know that? simply because we feel the dryness, the increased sensitivity and even a simple mission such as applying your foundation can become a nightmare. We’ve gathered some of the most important tips for keeping your skin in the cold winter
WATER As corny as water sounds, it is the main source of moisture in our skin. In the winter we tend to drink less water while increasing consumption of caffeine-based hot drinks, which dehydrate the skin even more. make sure you drink at list 1.5 liters of water every day or at least drink a glass of water for every cup of coffee or tea you drink
CLEANSERS Choose your cleansers wisely and use delicate products based on water and soothing plant extracts rather than on alcohol
TEXTURES It is time to switch to using richer textures in your skincare products, preferably products that are rich in fatty acids, hyaluronic acid, aromatic oils, shea butter, vitamins and minerals.
NIGHT CARE It is highly recommended to use a night cream in order to give extra moisture to the skin while you are asleep. night is the best time to repair skin damage
MULTILAYERING If during the summer we seek to apply as few layers as possible to the skin, winter is an excellent time for multilayering. This is a perfect time to use serums and give the skin a deeper rehabilitation treatment, to encourage the skin to act as a young skin, to enrich the skin with active substances and moisture, and also to prevent loss of shine and glow as a result of dehydration
PROTECTION Even when the sun does not shine outside there is a high radiation and we must protect our skin from it. make sure to choose the right SPF product when going outside.
WEEKLY TREATMENT Treat your skin at least once a week with a rich moisturizing mask
BODY SKIN Don’t forget to pamper your body as well. make sure to apply body creams that are nutritious and rich in beneficial oils.
WHAT YOU EAT Try to add “warm foods” to your daily diet and make sure to consume fruits and vegetables as well. blueberries are great source for antioxidants.
WINTER FRAGRANCE Winter is the ultimate time to use richer, more warm and sensual fragrances. our quick tip is to spray a bit of your winter fragrance on your scarf….
Being one of the most oldest and traditional french perfume houses isn’t necessarily easy.
you must keep up with all the novelties around you, and at the same time keep your traditional brand values while recruiting new consumers to the brand. somehow it seems like CARON perfumes stayed behind in the traditional area, despite the growing demand for niche perfumes over the last 8 years.
The french perfume house was founded in 1904 by Ernest Daltroff and got famous by its unique face powders and the perfume fountains in the brand boutiques. I remember the delicate scent of the powder when I first visited CARON boutique in Paris, it was amazing but at the same time I felt like I got back in time.
Unlike his “oldest” brother GUERLAIN, who managed to develop the brand during the years and adapt itself to a rapidly changing market and to younger customers CARON kept on doing what they always did.
You know the famous quote saying “IF YOU’LL KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOU’VE ALWAYS DONE, YOU’LL KEEP ON GETTING WHAT YOU’VE ALWAYS GOT”?,
that is the first thing I could think of when CARON was up for sale by Alès Groupe after showing poor performance. Now that the brand is sold to Cattleya Finance S.A (sold in 9.9 million euros), it will be very interesting to see if the new group will manage to bring a new dawn for the brand.
It will take a lot of courage and new marketing strategies both offline and online, along new and younger blood inside the brand to hopefully save the brand.
Greece is always a good idea if you ask me, and even a greater one when its just a bit after the hot season, when most of the summer travellers are back home and you can experience the greek life in it’s best. the weather is still fabulous and the beaches are not so crowded so you can get that tanning bed you want.
If you chose the island of Rhodes make sure NOT to miss the folowing spots:
Even if it’s not your first time on the island, Lindos is THE spot.
beautiful white houses and small streets that makes you feel the real authentic greek life, gorgeouses cafe’s and small taverna’s alongside fashionable resturants and bars.

Needless to say, swimming in clear water is a must.
3| MANOLIS TAVERNA
The best restaurant in the island is in Faliraki. Trust me! I know what I’m talking about…
After trying so many Tavernas on the island I can say for sure!
It’s not just because of their exaggerating deliciously Musaka which melts in your mouth,
All the dishes are so fresh and yummy that there’s a high chance you’ll turn this place into your permanent restaurant during the trip. you must book a table unless you want to spend a couple of hours waiting for a table…
Exploring the old town of rhodes by night is the best option. the streets are beautiful and you can find a lot of cool bars and places to seat and relax. you’ll find beautiful shops and small boutiqes.
Need some sugar in your veins? here you’ll find the best ice-cream, that almost makes you feel like you’re in Italy. prepare yourself to the ” I can’t decide which flavour i want” mode
Personaly my favorite was the Pistachio and salted caramel…
