Summer is here and it feels like walking in a burning oven here in Tel-Aviv, its totally the time for fresh and light scents if you haven’t changed your daily fragrance yet.
We picked our top 5 niche perfumes for this summer :
#1BYREDO BLANCHE – because of its airy notes and the light floral trail of peony’s combined with violet and African orange blossom…white is totally the color of summer 2018.
#2 THE DIFFERENT COMPANY – SENS & BOIS Mostly because of Celine Ellena, but also because of the fact that its a full of contrast scent, that perfectly combines black pepper, violet, ginger and patchouli and yet manage to stay fresh and sophisticated.
#3 AGONIST BLUE NORTH
Because it makes us feel like we’re in a cooler place than Tel Aviv in July-August, and because a cocktail based on mint, ginger, heliotrope and vanilla is a great one!
#4 TOM FORD NEROLI PRTOFINO
Because we love walking in Tel Aviv and feels like we’re in Amalfi coast, and because Neroli, lavender and jasmine is a oh so fresh and delicate mix.
#5 LE GALION IRIS Because you’ll smell like you just got out of the shower and also because of its classic vintage bottle.
On his work “Last Second” the artist Christian Boltanski set a led counter to count the seconds since the second he was born on September 6, 1944.
The counter will stop when Christian Boltanski will depart from this world.
His decision to set the counter on seconds as time units makes the viewer feel the urgency that leads to following insights:
Time flies! Fast! Really fast!!!
Time unit that passed will never return again
Our time here is limited and we have no idea when our personal counter will be stopped.

When I stood there in front of CB personal counter, and while touring his so thought provoking exhibition “LIFETIME” in Jerusalem, I realized once again what I already knew, and what most of us knows, but pretend we don’t…
The fact that our time here is fixed is supposed to make us live life to the fullest at any given moment. Moreover, the fact that it is likely that in a few generations we will be forgotten and no one will actually remember us, what we did or said, should make us always do what is good for us without thinking about other people thoughts about it.
So why are we ignoring those facts most of the time?
Maybe it’s because we understand that realize our dreams is harder than just dreaming them…
How will we feel if we’ll go after our goals and make the best of our given time here in every single second?

FILL & WATCH
A lazy afternoon at coola spa in Tel Aviv port, after treating your self with a pampering massage, manicure & pedicure you can relax in the white indoor space while having a cup of herbal tea. all you have to do next is go out and grab one of the deck chairs to watch the beautiful Tel-Avivian sunset.
alexrainbirdMusic is the best thing happened to my playlist lately, and this specific one is fresh and will become the right playlist for June while driving your car to your weekend getaways or while preparing dinner with a glass of Chablis…
June brings with it the fresh summer scents, cool breeze and sea salt scents gently combined with a hint of floral and green notes. it’s the perfect time to pick a new perfume which will enhance the sense of upcoming holiday season.
LE JASMIN by Miller Harris is a perfect balance between green and floral notes,
orange blossom, Jasmin and lavender with a hint of ylang ylang, rosemary musk and cedar wood. you’ll be sniffing yourself day and night. in the evening you can mix it with more intense scents of woods or figs.
FOOD SPIRITS & OUTDOOR GATHERINGS
nothing like a summer evening gathering with friends and family, candle lights great wine or a fresh cocktail and light dinner.
“I always have faith in everything I do. I never think “what if it wont be good”… I do what I love and that is the secret of my success”
so said the ho so chic – @Martine Micallef
born and raised in the south of France, she absorbed all the amazing colors and artistic vibes of the French Riviera including the sun kissed skin tone. along with her husband Geoffrey she created a little empire of her own for arts & perfumes @parfumsmicallef A niche fragrance brand selling world wide for 22 years now.
I spent the last week with Martin in Tel-Aviv presenting her new artistic collaboration with the Russian artist Alex Doll and had the chance to reveal some of her secrets for happy and passionate life, her exquisite taste in fashion and her beauty rituals
Martine about her fashion choices:
I love mixing colors and materials, different styles and different fabrics, that is my way to create my own style. I can wear simple denim with an expensive top or even a short dress
I mix items from east and west, we travel a lot, promoting our brand and every way I go I like buying the traditional garment that represents the area I am in at the moment, and I wear the items I find in the “French way”, sometimes I even redesign it and add my own touch to it.
I don’t like wearing black. It makes me feel old and too serious, my fashion choices are just like me – creative, happy and colorful. the outfit can be very simple or very detailed but it must reflect happiness
I love waking up in the mornings and get dressed. I don’t think about it to much, I never plan what to wear, this morning I received this beautiful and colorful dress from the Tel Avivian boutique pioo-pioo, and immediately I found something to wear it with. (we love your shiny shoes:))
I have an eclectic collection of clothes I have selected over the years, Luckily I’m at the same size for many years, so I don’t have to get reed of anything.
Did you changed your style with time? oh yes, when I was young I was very extravagant with my outfits, now I’m more moderated, but still having a lot of fun with my wardrobe. fashion is fun for me.
Martine’s tips for well being
Cleansing inside and outside. I never went to bad with my makeup on, even not after a long night. I started to look after my skin when I was young, I make sure to apply moisturizer every morning and night and I can’t live without my eye cream. it is a must
I like my food fresh and simple, I love eating and try new things but my favorite food is fresh fruits, vegetables and fishes. when I was a child, my mother use to come home from the market with fresh tomatoes and crispy brad from the boulangerie and it was delicacy, tomatoes with salt, olive oil and bread. even today I love it. I avoid sugar and sweets, I just don’t like it and my body does not need it.
I’m a simple person who appreciates a personal and direct approach. I get to meet a lot of different people, my attitude is the same with everyone.
Hypocrisy and arrogance because of success or money is something I dislike.
Nature I love hiking in the open nature, I travel a lot and like to see new places, but even when I’m back home, a nice walk in the open fields of Grasse is a must for me. fresh air, sun and all the beauty around me. it’s so inspiring.
I love my family, and spent as much time as I can with them when we are back home. my family is my joy.
Martine’s advise for all the women out there
if you want success make sure to do what you love and what you want. when you’re doing what you want and love, success is guarantied.
make sure to do it with passion. Its better to get lost in your passion then lose your passion.
love and passion are my greatest motivation.
Geoffrey is my balance. I’m an artist and I do what I love, but we are doing it together, he takes care on the finance and I’m the creative and artistic soul.
Martine’s dreams for the upcoming years
when it comes to life I want to do as much as I can.
my biggest dream is to be an artist at 100 percent of the time, but I know it’s hard because than I won’t be abele to spend so much time with my family and friends.
I just want everyone around me to be as happy as I am.
for the upcoming year my goals are to have more artistic collaborations such as the one I did with Alex Doll, and I really want to visit Japan, I’m fascinated by the culture and beauty of this country
Martine’s make up & beauty musts
I never live home without my lip-gloss and mascara, I like the natural look and don’t wear a lot of make up.
my favorite fragrance now is the new launch Mon Parfume Pearl, but i also like to mix fragrances nd scented oils.
my first perfume was Guerlain habit rouge.
you can find M.Micallef parfume at INDIVIDUAL cabinet de parfume – 40 Shabazi st. Tel Aviv.
I work at the perfume and beauty industry for almost 15 years now
I love discovering new fragrances, there story and ingredients especially niche one’s .
one day I will definitely launch my own fragrance, but until that day will come I’m creating my own signature scents by mixing 2, 3 sometimes even 4 different perfumes!!!
I’m going to share with you now my best tips for perfume mixology and my best perfumed cocktails
Mix fragrances from close or similar olfactory families,
for example mixing a very oriental fragrance with a very citrusy fragrance will usually be a disaster, but mixing an oriental one with woody or gourmand can be nice.
Starting with a scented oil as a base on your pulse points will assure you a great silage, I love using the white oud oil as my winter base, and musk or almond oil as summer base. make sure you are using a high quality oils only.
Mixing natural perfumes will give you better results than synthetic or aldehydes
Spray the dominant fragrance as a first step and then the rest of them.
just spray each and every one of them as if you are using it alone.
Do not exaggerate! Try any combination on your skin before you go out and spread your personal scent to the world
Some of my famous cocktails :
now its time for you to be the mixologists and let us know if you found a really good cocktail!
In Hebrew we have this expression saying : ” you live in a movie…” I get that a lot 🙂
that’s true! I live in a movie, or rather in a TV series. A series that has quite a few seasons almost like Gray’s Anatomy or Sex and the City and one day it will also become a serialized film and the best thing in this story is me. I’m the writer, producer, director and the lead actress
In Hollywood they would pay me a fortune for it, I’m telling you!
Every season in my series has a main theme that causes the plot to develop, maturity and first love, relationships, motherhood, career, personal development, career change, and a little bit of everything in the right dosage for me.
The Cast of actors preforming next to me consists of the familiar, loved and well known actors, along with those who pop in for a season or two and then I have to “kill” them because they no longer contribute to the plot and become superfluous, some “resurrected” and then die for the last time, some stay for another season and there are guest stars that pop in for a short time but leave a great mark.
The shooting locations will always be amazing! I shoot the series around the globe, Paris, Milan New York Tel Aviv Jerusalem and even in Thailand
It is very important for me that on the set there will always be treats and that the atmosphere will be good, all the good energies are important for the success of the show.
Between the seasons I go on vacation to think about what’s going to happen next. Now, for example, I already know that in the next season my leading actor is going to make a significant change in her life, one that will lead her to exciting and surprising places more than she can imagine. last season ended when she was full of thoughts and doubts and it was not clear which direction she would choose. next season everything is going to become clear, new beginnings, Copenhagen, New York, travelling and inspiring meetings with fascinating people.
I cant wait !
What about you??
How is the movie do you live in? Are you happy to watch it? Live it? If you could write a script for a sequel to this film, what would happen in it? Where would it have taken place? Where would your heroine wake up every morning and with whom would he or she go to sleep at night with?
Go on, go as far as you can imagine, what do you care? Who are the actors playing alongside with you? Are there some whose contract should end? Are there any new actors worth signing so they can join your cast? Will they raise the rating?
Just think about a sequel and not about rewrite the existing script, it’s impossible to change the past, but the current film can always be replaced with a new and more interesting film. remember: this is your movie! you are the only writer, director and lead actor. now all you have to do is live it!
speaking of Hollywood,
GAL GADOT – we are so proud of you and your way
you are a true ambassador and a great human being !!!!
One of the best things about new year is to plan it ! making your own goal list, I call it my LYP LIST – LIVE YOUR PASSIONS LIST it contains all my dreams and ideas for the upcoming year and I’m so excited each and every time I’m creating it because it gives me a better understanding of what I achieved so far ( and be grateful for it…), what I want to achieve next, my dreams , my wishes, and how am I going to get them…
The best Christmas gift for me every year is the one I’m giving to my self – a new special notebook that will become my “personal helper” on this matter
anyone can create the LYP LIST it’s so easy and fun and I’m excited to share with you my 2018 every day goal list, you are more than welcome to adopt it has it is or to make your own list 🙂

Creating fragrances that you can actually listen to is not a common thing. but it’s one men’s passion and he is living it daily.
we set down with Michael Partoche for a little chat about life, music, fragrances and passions.
♥ what comes first? The fragrance or the music?
“Each fragrance comes with its original song, that way you can listen to your scent. It’s a unique experience, where your ears and nose can experience something beautiful!
I always think of a story first, or something inspiring and music related, then i write a text and since i don’t have a good voice, i ask to London based musician PAT DAM SMYTH to create music and sing the lyrics that describe the perfume. PAT used to be the bass player in my former band when i used to live in London, he has a beautiful voice that reminds me of Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen etc…”
♥ What channels do you use for sharing your music?
“I now have a new band called HAREM NIGHTS, we just launched our first EP 2 months ago. We share our music on Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube, Apple Music… But nothing beats Live music! I am glad to play with HAREM NIGHTS for the launch of Room 1015 in Tel Aviv, it’s actually an original way to promote music through perfume and the perfume through music!”
♥ What was your first fragrance and what was your inspiration for it?
“ELECTRIC WOOD was the first one. I wanted to be a guitarist from the age of 6 or so. My parents thought it was a passing episode and that my dreams would change. But it was and remains my dream.
At the age of 11, my father returned from a long trip with a huge surprise for me: an original Gibson guitar. My first guitar.
I will not forget the special scent I smelled when I opened the box for the first time,
The smell of Gibson: the unique combination of lacquer, wood and metal, an amazing scent that excites me to this day, the smell of a new musical instrument. I tried to capture that memory into a bottle…”
♥ Why ROOM 1015?
“It use to be the most notorious room at the Continental Hyatt Hotel, aka the
“Riot House” . The 70s was a decade of total delirium for any self-respecting rock group. And L.A. was an inevitable stop on the journey. The motorcycles in the hallways, the rooftop pool overflowing with bubbles, Jim Morrison dangling from a balcony, the epic battles of Keith Moon from The Who…. Today, Room 1015 remains a place of contemplation. The nostalgia of an era of absolute freedom, where the air still holds the lingering smells of sweat, leather, fur and alcohol…”
♥ Can you see yourself doing something else today?
“My real passion is music. when I was young, I did not think that I could earn a living and studied pharmacy until I received my doctorate. with time, I realized that in my work I was more attracted to the side of grooming and perfume than to drugs.
The music was always there, but then came the point where I decided to combine my two passions and create something of my own.
Today I do not see myself working in “ordinary day job” all my life… I want to create my own truth”
♥ What’s next?
“A new fragrance will be launched in October, inspired by 70’s groupies of Hollywood and called … The perfume is made by the talented perfumer Jerome Epinette.”
( we smelled it and it’s AMAZING!!!)
